The last pre-view of "Strange but not Alone: A Jack dementary".

This is a clip of Jack exhibiting his most precious sketch journal, which he started roughly two years ago. I remember when he acquired it, and disturbed me and his brothers with the things his mind was turning into lines. For the first time ever, he is showing the public, and I'm proud to have been there with the camera.

As the title of this post conveys, this will be the last blip of the Jackdementary, which I will oft times refer to as the "Dementary". I've not been able to get a lot of footage this week, but hopefully next week, since it is spring break, I will be able to put together the first cycle of the Dementary.
I think this clip is gold.
We only have God and Jack to thank for it.

My Philosophy of Film (Filmosophy).

I watched Star Wars last night and realized, for the first time, how absolutely awful the acting is. Please don't misunderstand me; I think it is one of the best films ever, and absolutely one of my favorite. The special effects are also incredible, even for today. My point in typing these things is this: To me, it is not the quality of any particular facet of the movie, but the story that is most important. This is what I'm dealing with with this project. There are no special effects, no acting and there is barely any editing that will happen at all! There will be, hopefully an original score, and that is it.
My point is to focus on the story of a particular Jack...the most particular.

Tonight was extremely important. I understand that nobody really knows what's going on with this project, and very few people know who Jack is. He will be explained later, so don't worry about it. There are many sides of him: Poet, amateur rapper, sword collector, boxer, chef, David Bowie fan, and artist. . . tonight, I got some great footage of Jack displaying some of his sketches from his "Red Book", as well as a commentary by the subject himself. Great things are happening, and I'm thankful that I don't have to worry about a script.

Nothing will be scripted, and to be honest, that is probably the most difficult part. It'd be really easy to sit down , and write funny things to say, or to happen, but that's not natural. believe it or not, the Jack you have seen dancing, and the Jack you will see growing are almost completely natural, aside from some shyness, or nervousness from having a camera around.

Pre-view #1. "Jack Dances".

This video is simply a sort of teaser. As I've spent very little time around him with my camera, I don't have enough footage to encourage a real "part" or "short" or whatever. I only have this clip of him dancing, along with some of him sleeping and showing off his boxing "skills". Like most of what we will do, this is unscripted.

My new genre: Semi-fictional, lo-fi documentary.

If you are reading this, you are probably extremely surprised to learn that I have been awarded the opportunity of a life time, and this blog will be the main medium used to document the process. I think it will be fun. I have a busy schedule, and I think the project, "Strange, but not Alone: a Jackdementary" will be a type of therapy, or something. I don't need therapy. I swear.
Well here it is; the reason for the blog, and the YouTube channel: I want a new challenge. You may or may not know that I spent a year, and nearly 300,000 research-grant dollars, documenting the life of Dr. Fedor Sergeievich, the miracle man himself. He was Russia's very first, "Manchine". Both of his legs were completely robotic, and he was involved in a particularly odd controversy. He wanted to have a third leg built for himself, and I was there, in the middle of it all, filming his life and the lives of his immediate family. Money ran out, and Fedor died. That was the end of that.
But I have been, as I wrote earlier, awarded the opportunity to document another interesting character. His name is Jack. You will meet him, learn about him, and watch him evolve over the course of many low budget shorts that I am working on. Hopefully keeping this project as humble and as inexpensive as possible will prolong it's life, and I may be able to finish this project.
I am doing it completely independant of any grant or loan.
